National Leaders of Education (NLE)

NLE's are outstanding Headteachers who use their skills and experience to support schools in challenging circumstances.  In addition to leading their own schools, NLE's work to increase the leadership capacity of other schools to help raise standards.  NEETSA have two National Leaders in Education.

Meet our NLEs

Gillian Marshall is a very experienced system leader, who has held leadership roles in both comprehensive and selective schools.  As the Headteacher of Colchester County High School for Girls, Gillian has expertise and interest in:

·         Strategies to achieve rapid improvement

·         Curriculum design

·         Behaviour for Learning

·         Budget management

·         Supporting newly appointed Headteachers

·         Developing academic rigour and producing outstanding results within a Science Department

·         Strategies for challenge and stretch with Gifted and Talented students

CCHS is a national Teaching School and leads the NEETSA Alliance.   This Teaching School is committed to providing school to school support of the highest quality, outstanding research opportunities through CamStar (with Cambridge accreditation) and bespoke CPD.  Gillian has a BSc in Biochemistry and an MSc in Physics; teaching all three Sciences to a high level with outstanding results.


The Revd. Kate Moore is Headteacher of Birch C of E Primary, a school deemed outstanding in all areas by both Ofsted and SIAMS.  She is an Ofsted Inspector and her areas of expertise include:

·         Ofsted focus on primary curriculum, assessment of attainment and progress.

·         Ofsted focus on quality of teaching.

·         Target Tracker assessment, progress and attainment.

·         Developing outstanding teaching.

·         Providing quality provision.

·         Providing quality learning environment

NEETSA strategic partners have expertise in all phases of education, including early years settings, selective, comprehensive, faith and special schools.  There are also extensive connections to quality support from other Alliances and NLEs both locally, nationally and internationally.
